Charles Wenzelberg \/ New York Post<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s unclear what was said or any further details about the seemingly brief exchange.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Brunson once again played the hero as he helped the Knicks erase a 14-point third-quarter deficit in what would become a Game 1 victory.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Brunson finished the game with 30 points on 12-of-31 shooting in 37 minutes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It also came despite Brunson being banged up during the course of the win, which included coming out of the game in the first quarter <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/06\/03\/sports\/jalen-brunson-hobbles-off-court-in-knicks-nba-finals-game-1-scare\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">after the Spurs\u2019 Harrison Barnes crashed into his right leg<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>And then after returning in the second quarter, Brunson had his ankle stepped on.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was the MVP in the second half,\u201d Knicks coach Mike Brown said of Brunson. \u201cHe did what MVP candidates are supposed to do. He carried us home.
