(WTOK) &#8211;<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Students at Poplar Springs Elementary School in Meridian are starting out the new school year with an innovative addition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The school celebrated the arrival of its brand-new book vending machine with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday morning. The book vending machine is part of the school\u2019s ongoing commitment to promoting literacy, rewarding positive behavior, and making reading fun and accessible for all students.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThey\u2019ll have to meet goals,\u201d said Bridget Purpy, librarian at the school. \u201cThe teachers will set certain goals for them based on their reading level and the number of times that they\u2019re reading and their grade level of course.
