In a post shared on Instagram<\/a> on Wednesday, June 3, the actor, 72, celebrated his film \u2014 Propeller One-Way Night Coach<\/a> \u2014 being the number one movie on Apple TV+.\u00a0<\/p>\n Speaking directly to the camera, Travolta held up a model of the Super Constellation aircraft which is in the film and told his five million followers, “I’m very excited to say this is day seven of being No. 1 on Apple TV all around the world.”<\/p>\n “…I want to thank each and every one of you in all the countries around the world for being so supportive, it’s really because of you that it’s number one so thank you, thank you, I love you very much.”<\/p>\n “Day 7 at number ‘1’ ” Travolta captioned the video.\u00a0<\/p>\n The movie is semi-autobiographical and is based on Travolta’s own first flight as a child. It’s inspired by his 1997 children’s book of the same name and shows the U.S. in 1962 through the eyes of 8-year-old Jeff, with the Grease alum also starring as an older version of the character.<\/p>\n Travolta premiered Propeller One-Way Night Coach at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival<\/a> on May 15 alongside his daughter, 26-year-old Ella Bleu Travolta<\/a>, who also stars in the film as a flight attendant.\u00a0<\/p>\n While appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon<\/a>last month,\u00a0 Travolta gushed over his daughter’s role, noting to host Fallon \u2014 who called Ella’s performance “fantastic”\u00a0 \u2014\u00a0 that “a star is born.”<\/p>\n The Pulp Fiction star also opened up about receiving the annual Honorary Palme d’Or at Cannes, something which he said was a total surprise.\u00a0<\/p>\n “I didn’t expect this at all,” he said, while showing off the honor which he’d brought with him to the late-night show.\u00a0<\/p>\n “Thierry Fremaux saw this film \u2026 and he loved it,” noted Travolta, explaining how Fremaux, director of the Cannes Film Festival, said he was going to accept the film as a selection at the festival five months in advance and “make it a special night.”<\/p>\n “I cried,” he continued of receiving the honor. “I couldn’t believe that he felt that way.”<\/p>\n Ella Bleu Travolta and John Travolta at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival Earlier this month, Travolta told the Italian newspaper La Repubblica<\/a> that his new film is dedicated to his parents and siblings, as well as son Jett Travolta<\/a>, who died in 2009 at the age of 16, and his wife Kelly Preston<\/a>, who died in 2020<\/a> after a breast cancer diagnosis.<\/p>\n “I dedicated the film to Kelly, to my son Jett, to my brothers and sisters, to my mother and my father, because they are the model from which this film was born,” he told the outlet.<\/p>\n Never miss a story \u2014 sign up for PEOPLE’s free daily newsletter<\/a> to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.<\/p>\n “I wanted this sincerity,” he added of the film. “A child’s hope and resilience are unique; we adults have forgotten what that means.
