\u201cThe Daily Show\u201d\u00a0took a vicious jab at LA mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt<\/a> as he shocked Democrats with a strong showing in the early ballot count across the city.<\/p>\n

Host Michael Kosta launched his verbal assault on the former reality TV star as the left scrambled to justify his meteoric political rise<\/a> since his Pacific Palisades home was burnt down in the wildfires of 2025.<\/p>\n

Kosta said last night: \u201cHow did this country get so stupid? Oh, that\u2019s right. We stopped reading books. Mm-hmm. Yep. See? Spencer Pratt is standing up for the rights of all hardworking voters who look like ecstasy dealers.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd it\u2019s about time someone spoke for older guys who hang around college parties where no one is sure who exactly brought them.\u201d<\/p>\n

The three leading candidates in Los Angeles\u2019 mayoral race showed little movement in the latest ballot count Wednesday afternoon, solidifying Mayor\u00a0Karen Bass\u2019 place in November\u2019s runoff election while leaving the contest for second place largely unchanged.<\/p>\n

Pratt has held the second position behind Bass, who held nearly 35% of the vote. Pratt and Raman are still vying for the second spot to qualify for the November runoff, as they each boast roughly 30% and 22% of the total votes counted.<\/p>\n

In Los Angeles municipal elections, if no candidate secures more than 50% of the vote, the top two vote-getters advance to a runoff in November to decide who the city\u2019s next mayor will be.<\/p>\n

The county is expected to release a new batch of vote totals today, as roughly 700,000 ballots still remain to be counted.<\/p>\n

Kosta joked about the idea of a reality television personality entering politics, saying that mocking such a candidate surely couldn\u2019t lead to them remaining in power for more than a decade.<\/p>\n

The remark appeared to draw a parallel between Pratt and\u00a0Donald Trump, who transitioned from reality TV fame into a political career. Trump said he favored Pratt earlier this month.<\/p>\n

After questioning what LA voters saw in Pratt,\u00a0The Daily Show\u00a0aired footage of a supporter \u2014 wearing sunglasses at night \u2014 praising him for opposing communism and socialism, calling them major problems in LA.<\/p>\n

That supporter was later identified as Jonathan Mellis, a convicted drug dealer and Jan. 6 rioter.<\/p>\n

Mellis, who smiled behind Pratt during a live election-night interview before being escorted away by security, pleaded guilty to assaulting an officer during the January 6 Capitol riot.<\/p>\n

Pratt has held the second position behind Bass, who held nearly 35% of the vote. The Daily Show<\/p>\n

He had previously been convicted on methamphetamine-related charges and has a history of arrests, including for domestic violence.<\/p>\n

Unlike Bass, the Pratt campaign was not declared the official victor just yet, but it ended election night in high spirits.<\/p>\n

The political newcomer said a runoff campaign would provide an opportunity to introduce voters to the advisers and officials he plans to surround himself with if elected.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am ready for whatever God puts in front of me,\u201d Pratt said. \u201cWe have five months to build our team, show the experience I\u2019m going to surround myself with and put together the best team this city could ever dream of.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking to reporters outside an election-night gathering at Don Antonio\u2019s Restaurant, Pratt said he was prepared for the months ahead and looked forward to debating Bass \u2014 so much so that he would do it every Friday until the November election.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the end of the day, what\u2019s been resonating is that people just want the truth and they want to know somebody\u2019s heart.<\/p>\n

\u201cI try to be as true to my authentic self as possible, and I just believe a lot of Los Angeles is so excited to hear from a non-politician,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
