press conference<\/a>, the 48-year-old coach was asked specifically about the role and performance of the team\u2019s leaders, to which White noted that adversity has allowed voices within the group to emerge that previously didn\u2019t participate as much, and that some players are learning to take on greater responsibilities and become leaders:<\/p>\n\u201cYeah, I mean, I think that there are voices that we are hearing that may not have spoken up before that I think is really, really good,\u201d White said. \u201cYou know, there are players who are learning to get outside of themselves when things aren\u2019t going well for them to be a better leader.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYou know, oftentimes, it\u2019s a human nature, right? If you\u2019re struggling or you\u2019re going through something, you sort of internalize everything,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
In addition, the coach explained that one of the most important lessons for the team is understanding that the best way to overcome individual difficulties is to support one another. In that regard, she noted that the players are learning to focus more on their teammates and the team as a whole to move forward:<\/p>\n
“I think the best way to get yourself going is to pour into your teammates, to pour into one another. And so we\u2019re learning how to do that,\u201d White added. \u201cI mean, you know, our core group is pretty young, so to speak, and learning how to go through some of these ups and downs, you know, is important.\u201d<\/p>\n
After a rough start to the season, in which they lost two of their first three games, Indiana bounced back with three straight wins. However, they\u2019ve now lost two in a row.<\/p>\n
Now, they\u2019ll look to turn things around this Thursday, June 4, at 7:00 PM, when they host the Atlanta Dream\u2014led by Angel Reese\u2014at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.<\/p>\n
