{"id":68520,"date":"2025-08-08T21:39:32","date_gmt":"2025-08-08T21:39:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/68520\/"},"modified":"2025-08-08T21:39:32","modified_gmt":"2025-08-08T21:39:32","slug":"german-vc-fund-smart-infrastructure-ventures-launches-e30-million-siventures-ii-fund-to-support-early-stage-startups","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/68520\/","title":{"rendered":"German VC fund Smart Infrastructure Ventures launches \u20ac30 million SIVentures II Fund to support early-stage startups"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following the success of its first fund, Leipzig-based VC fund <a href=\"https:\/\/siventures.de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Smart Infrastructure Ventures <\/a>has announced the launch of its \u20ac30 million fund, SIVentures II to further invest in early-stage startups focused on innovative technologies in AI, IT infrastructure and energy.<\/p>\n<p>The current investment strategy plans to \u200binvest in a total of around 30 startup teams, above all in the DACH region, with up to \u20ac500k being made available for initial investments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have already recorded two successful exits, such as the sale of the Leipzig-based digital health startup mentor to the US medical technology group ResMed. This significant exit after a short period of time has naturally had a positive impact on our fundraising for SIVentures II,\u201d explains Dirk Frohnert, one of the two managing directors of SIVentures.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 2019, the founding team \u2013 consisting of Bj\u00f6rn Bauermeister, formerly a trader at BNP Paribas in New York and London, and Dirk Frohnert, formerly a fund manager at JPMorgan in London \u2013 is supported by Falk Trietsch as an investment manager.<\/p>\n<p>The SIVentures team has more than 20 years\u2019 experience in investment and entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n<p>SIVentures also works closely with the SpinLab group, which manages several accelerator programmes in Germany and has an extensive partner network.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs an active investor, we not only offer startups capital, but also see ourselves as a proactive sparring partner,\u201d adds Bj\u00f6rn Bauermeister, the second Managing Director of SIVentures.<\/p>\n<p>After the successful closing of the first fund in 2024, more than 75% of the target value of \u20ac30 million has already been achieved. The fund\u2019s management plans to double its volume compared to the first fund.<\/p>\n<p>Successful investments from the first fund include the Jena-based cybersecurity-company Enginsight. According to the fund, their portfolio companies have created more than 300 new jobs in Germany to date.<\/p>\n<p>The new fund will focus on B2B startups in the pre-Seed and Seed phase, and has already made four investments in the fields of AI, software development and enterprise software.
