Tickets for DC Studios\u2019 \u201cSupergirl\u201d film went on sale yesterday, and already numbers are coming in that are raising eyebrows.<\/p>\n

Deadline<\/a> reports that the film has hit tracking with at least a $55 million opening on the cards. That would put in the same sort of ballpark as \u201cThe Flash\u201d and \u201cX-Men: First Class\u201d. <\/p>\n

That said, presales are suggesting the numbers could go higher with some suggesting up to $75 million. Unaided awareness of the film is higher than \u201cThunderbolts\u201d or \u201cThe Mandalorian and Grogu\u201d.<\/p>\n

The figures come as the trade also reported that the film has a net production budget of $175 million before global P&A spend, and they further claim the break-even mark for the film stands at a surprisingly low $315 million worldwide.<\/p>\n

Speaking with Games Radar<\/a>, director Craig Gillespie discussed the comparisons being made between this and \u201cGuardians of the Galaxy\u201d:<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think I can avoid it. We\u2019re in that arena, but it\u2019s a space I\u2019ve always played in. There\u2019s only so many space movies. And we\u2019re in the superhero universe, with that dance of humor and darkness and drama, which I love.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also indicates he and DC Studios chief James Gunn had disagreements but \u201cit was great to have more of a director than a studio head\u201d to bounce ideas off. He adds: \u201cYou can just roll the sleeves up and have a healthy debate. It would get into the tiniest things\u2026 music choices\u2026 that sort of push and pull.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also been revealed that Jason Momoa\u2019s Lobo appears in only about 15% of the film, and his character has encountered Superman several times before the events of this film.<\/p>\n

\u201cSupergirl\u201d opens in cinemas on June 26th.<\/p>\n
