{"id":685907,"date":"2026-06-05T12:08:15","date_gmt":"2026-06-05T12:08:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/685907\/"},"modified":"2026-06-05T12:08:15","modified_gmt":"2026-06-05T12:08:15","slug":"utahns-grow-less-optimistic-about-economy-for-second-straight-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/685907\/","title":{"rendered":"Utahns grow less optimistic about economy for second straight month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) \u2014 Utahns are feeling less confident about the economy for the second month in a row.<\/p>\n<p>This is according to the most recent Zions Bank consumer sentiment survey.<\/p>\n<p>According to Senior Economist Robert Spendlove, the decrease in consumer sentiment is likely due to conflict in Iran.<\/p>\n<p>Since the start of the attacks in Iran back in February, the nation\u2019s sentiment has declined by 21% and here in Utah its declined about 11%.<\/p>\n<p>This comes as consumer sentiment fell 13.5% in April and .2% in May. <\/p>\n<p>However, according to Spendlove, consumers in Utah are more confident in the economy than the rest of the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite recent decreases, it\u2019s great to see that Utah consumers remain more confident than U.S. consumers. Utah\u2019s fundamental economic strengths \u2014 including strong employment and GDP growth \u2014 continue to help bolster consumer sentiment,\u201d said Zions Bank senior economist Robert Spendlove in a press release.   <\/p>\n<p> He adds this is due to strong employment and GDP growth in the beehive state.<\/p>\n<p>Zions Bank publishes consumer sentiment index\u2019s monthly.
