{"id":685942,"date":"2026-06-05T12:28:07","date_gmt":"2026-06-05T12:28:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/685942\/"},"modified":"2026-06-05T12:28:07","modified_gmt":"2026-06-05T12:28:07","slug":"myles-garretts-sights-are-set-on-bruce-smiths-career-record-of-200-sacks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/685942\/","title":{"rendered":"Myles Garrett&#8217;s sights are set on Bruce Smith&#8217;s career record of 200 sacks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Myles Garrett set the NFL record with 23 sacks last season, but he won\u2019t be satisfied until he has the career sack record as well.<\/p>\n<p>Garrett said after the Browns traded him to the Rams this week that he\u2019s friendly with Hall of Fame defensive end Bruce Smith and would love to break Smith\u2019s NFL record of 200 career sacks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a big goal out there, that\u2019s 200,\u201d Garrett said in an <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=qwnKQatXWa0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">interview with the Rams\u2019 YouTube channel<\/a>. \u201cI want to eclipse that, or I want to make it close. I have a good relationship with the guy who has that record, and being able to go get that one would mean a lot to myself, and to him as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 30-year-old Garrett has 125.5 sacks so far in his career. Smith had 106 sacks at the same age, so Garrett is well ahead of Smith\u2019s pace. But Smith played until he was 40 years old, something not many players can do.
