And while years may have passed since then, it seems Shakira is still grappling with the emotional fallout.<\/p>\n In a recent interview with The Times<\/a>, Shakira said the separation was \u201cthe darkest moment\u201d that led to \u201cthe dissolution of [their] family.\u201d And as for whether she\u2019s returned to the dating scene, the Colombian icon said she has \u201cno space or time in [her] life\u201d for romance.<\/p>\n The comment about her love life certainly caught the attention of fans, and in another new interview with People<\/a>, Shakira doubled down on the claim, going one step further to say that she has \u201cno social life\u201d at all as a hard-working single mom.<\/p>\n “I don’t have a social life. Right now, no social life,\u201d she said, acknowledging that she previously said \u201cse pasa rico soltera\u201d (single women have a lot of fun) in her 2026 song \u201cSoltera.\u201d \u201cYeah, it\u2019s true, but not so much for me right now,\u201d she said, going on to explain that she\u2019s entirely focused on balancing motherhood and work commitments \u2014 which include a major US tour, a European residency, and a co-headlining performance at the first-ever World Cup Final halftime show in July.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not thinking of future partners, I\u2019m just thinking of raising my kids. Maybe [I\u2019ll date] when they\u2019re older or something,\u201d she said, revealing that her sons travel with her on tour. \u201cThat\u2019s what I don\u2019t have any social life, \u2018cause I\u2019m like, my kids, the stage, my kids, the stage. That\u2019s how my life oscillates right now.\u201d<\/p>\n People are loving Shakira\u2019s honesty, but her confession that she doesn’t have any kind of social life has sparked a divide…<\/p>\n On the one hand, fans don\u2019t blame the 49-year-old for channeling her energy into work and parenting, particularly after a painful split. If you have a full and satisfying life, and you’re able to support yourself comfortably, the idea of getting into a relationship just isn’t that appealing anymore,\u201d echoed another<\/a>.<\/p>\n Also in her defense, someone said<\/a> that \u201cspending time bonding with your children may be the best kind of social life,\u201d while another user compared<\/a> Shakira\u2019s comments to something similar that Angelina Jolie<\/a> said in 2023 about her kids being her \u201cclosest<\/a>\u201d friends following her split from Brad Pitt<\/a>.<\/p>\n And while there\u2019s a lot to be said for taking a break from dating, not everyone is in agreement that your life should solely revolve around kids and work. \u201cHaving a social life is important for mental health, especially as a parent,\u201d one popular comment<\/a> read. \u201cShe doesn\u2019t have to date to have a social life. Get the girlfriends together and go out to dinner.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI don’t applaud anyone for not having a social life, especially women after a breakup.
