As President Donald Trump<\/a> continues to focus the bulk of his attention on his ballroom and the National Mall\u2019s reflecting pool, a recent poll finds that a growing number of Americans are voicing their frustration with his upcoming UFC event at the White House, which coincides with his 80th birthday on June 14.<\/p>\n

A YouGov<\/a> poll found that a majority of Americans aren\u2019t fans of \u201cUFC Freedom 250,\u201d set to take place on the South Lawn of the White House, with 40% of respondents saying they \u201cstrongly disapprove\u201d of the event and an additional 11% saying they \u201csomewhat disapprove.\u201d<\/p>\n

While the disapproval largely came from Democratic voters, 43% of independent voters also said they \u201cstrongly disapprove\u201d of the event, with another 12% saying they \u201csomewhat disapprove.\u201d <\/p>\n

A majority of Republican respondents said they either \u201csomewhat approved\u201d or \u201cstrongly approved.\u201d <\/p>\n

Trump announced the event last summer and has been talking it up ever since. The construction of the support structure for the fights began late last month. <\/p>\n

Trump has also suggested that once the event concludes, the structure may become a permanent fixture at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., comparing it to France\u2019s Eiffel Tower. <\/p>\n
