The United States men’s national team plays its final match before the 2026 World Cup<\/a> on Saturday (2:30 p.m. ET, TNT) against Germany<\/a> at Soldier Field in Chicago. Mauricio Pochettino’s squad is hoping for a strong finish following last Sunday’s 3-2 win over Senegal<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There will be notable absences for both sides in their final warm-up match. The U.S. will be without center back Chris Richards<\/a>, who is still recovering from an ankle injury<\/a> suffered last month. Germany’s 17-year-old phenom Lennart Karl<\/a> suffered a torn muscle in his thigh during a training session and will miss the World Cup. RB Leipzig<\/a>‘s Assan Ou\u00e9draogo has taken his place in the squad.<\/p>\n

Richards’ exclusion only further clouds his availability for their World Cup opener against Paraguay on June 12<\/a>. Pochettino said Friday that Richards is training, but not ready to play just yet.<\/p>\n

“We have after that game the possibility in the next few days to assess him and see his ankle’s evolution, and then to make a decision, but at the moment, he’s still doing his recovery,” Pochettino said.<\/p>\n

The U.S. is level with Germany 1-1 at Soldier Field in Chicago thanks to a stunning volley from left back Antonee \u201cJedi\u201d Robinson \u2014 who topped off his brilliant strike with a somersault into a full back flip celebration.<\/p>\n

Robinson, who earned his nickname at age 5 as a Star Wars fan, pounced on a Pulisic corner that was headed clear by Jonathan Tah, firing a first-time volley into the roof of the net that left goalkeeper Oliver Baumann with absolutely no chance. Germany had taken the lead through Kai Havertz, who headed home a dangerous Joshua Kimmich free kick after a Tyler Adams foul just outside the U.S. box.<\/p>\n

The USMNT had looked shaky early but settled well, and they have Robinson\u2019s golazo to thank.<\/p>\n

After a slow start, the U.S. began to be the more threatening side. Kai Havertz opened the scoring in the 2nd minute as the American defense made it easy for Germany to capitalize on a free kick.<\/p>\n

As the U.S. found their way into the game, Jedi Robinson\u2019s volley off a corner kick leveled the score at one.<\/p>\n

Mauricio Pochettino\u2019s starting XI today looks like what many suspect will take the field at SoFi Stadium on Friday night against Paraguay, minus Chris Richards for Miles Robinson.<\/p>\n

Both teams have agreed to allow 11 substitutions in three windows during the match. We\u2019ll see how many minutes Pochettino gives today\u2019s starters.<\/p>\n

Chris Richards will not play in the final U.S. tuneup before the World Cup<\/a>, coach Mauricio Pochettino said Friday, raising doubts about the top defender’s availability for the start of the tournament next week.<\/p>\n

“He’s training [and making progress] but still he’s not ready to compete and to play” against Germany on Saturday at Chicago’s Solder Field, Pochettino said.<\/p>\n
