Vanilla Ice<\/a> said he doesn\u2019t \u201cget\u201d why people are offended by him joining President Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s upcoming \u201cGreat American State Fair<\/a>\u201d series of concerts to celebrate the country\u2019s 250th anniversary.<\/p>\n

The rapper, whose real name is Robert Van Winkle, appeared on Fox News<\/a> Saturday after numerous other artists publicly canceled their appearances<\/a> in the 16-day event, telling \u201cSaturday in America\u201d host Kayleigh McEnany<\/a> that he\u2019s \u201cproud.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s crazy that all the attention is coming down on all this event and everything because I\u2019m honored and just super proud,\u201d noted Van Winkle. \u201cMy mom is proud and everybody I know is like, \u2018This is awesome.\u2019 And then there\u2019s some people that are bailing out and all this stuff.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I\u2019m like, \u2018Why?\u2019 You know, this will be the greatest concert on the planet. We\u2019re turning 250 years. Let\u2019s celebrate the country that we\u2019re born and raised in,\u201d he continued. \u201cWhat\u2019s wrong with being patriotic? And they said, \u2018Oh, because Trump\u2019s putting it on.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

To recap, Trump launched mass deportations<\/a> last year and enforced his immigration agenda to lethal results<\/a>, overseen skyrocketing detentions of children<\/a> and initiated an extremely unpopular war on Iran.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m like, \u2018So who throws a better party than Trump?\u2019\u201d said Van Winkle. \u201cMan, I\u2019ve been to a lot of them. That guy knows how to throw a real party and they\u2019re classy, they\u2019re great, they\u2019re fun and just over the top \u2014 and amazing. So I\u2019m like, \u2018Even better.\u2019 So I don\u2019t get it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The event, to be held at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., is being curated by Freedom 250<\/a>, a self-described \u201cnon-partisan organization\u201d that Trump created by<\/a> executive order<\/a>. He will also be holding an Ultimate Fighting Championship event<\/a> in front of the White House.<\/p>\n

Multiple artists who have dropped out of the <\/a>concert series<\/a> have said the event was presented to them as nonpartisan. Trump has since lashed out on his Truth Social platform<\/a>, boasting he might replace these \u201cThird Rate \u2018Artists\u2019\u201d himself. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

He wrote last week<\/a> that \u201cthe Number One Attraction anywhere in the World … who gets much larger audiences than Elvis in his prime\u201d and is \u201cthe Greatest President In History (The GOAT!)\u201d might take their \u201cplace\u201d with a speech.<\/p>\n

The official White House<\/a> account on X shared his post, writing<\/a>, \u201cAMERICA IS BACK Rally!\u201d<\/p>\n

On Saturday, Van Winkle argued that those opposing Trump and his concert series are \u201cshaken up on their beliefs, politically,\u201d and that entertainers shouldn\u2019t be \u201cput on that kind of a pedestal,\u201d suggesting his participation should not be viewed as an endorsement.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s like a DJ, you can throw it on for any wedding,\u201d he told McEnany. \u201cIf [former President] Joe Biden<\/a> is getting married, you can throw it on for him. I\u2019m sure there\u2019s fans over there on that side, too.
