Here are four fun songs that defined this period and still make us want to dance today.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUpside Down\u201d by Diana Ross<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s impossible not to love this groovy tune. Even King Charles once highlighted it as one of his favorite songs. <\/p>\n<p>The idea for \u201cUpside Down\u201d was inspired by <a href=\"https:\/\/americansongwriter.com\/diana-ross-reveals-her-song-choices-for-dick-clarks-new-years-rockin-eve\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Diana Ross<\/a> wanting to take her career in new directions.<\/p>\n<p>Nile Rodgers, who helped write the track, told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/nile-rodgers-says-diana-ross-didnt-understand-that-im-coming-out-was-a-gay-thing-2675049\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">NME<\/a>, \u201cShe said that she just wanted to turn her whole career upside down, and that was in our notes. But we thought that it would be more powerful in a romantic setting, so we wrote \u2018Upside down, boy you turn me.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoogie Wonderland\u201d by Earth, Wind, And Fire and The Emotions<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoogie Wonderland\u201d might sound pretty fun and upbeat, but don\u2019t get it twisted.<\/p>\n<p>As writer Allie Willis admitted to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.songfacts.com\/blog\/interviews\/allee-willis-boogie-wonderland-friends-theme\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">SongFacts<\/a>, \u201cBoogie Wonderland\u201d isn\u2019t a happy song at all. The track was inspired by the film Looking For Mr. Goodbar. The movie explores the sexual revolution of the 60s and 70s. Turns out, the song is more about the dark side of nightlife.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I saw\u00a0\u2018Mr. Goodbar\u2019, I got kind of fascinated with people who did go to clubs every night,\u201d she shared. \u201cWhose life was kind of falling apart, but they lived for the nightlife, though it didn\u2019t seem to be advancing them as humans in the end.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRock With You\u201d by Michael Jackson<\/p>\n<p>Before Jackson released the disco-infused Off The Wall, he released \u201cRock With You\u201d as a single second to \u201cDon\u2019t Stop Til You Get Enough\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>That infectious beat, in combination with the way that Jackson\u2019s voice glides over the track, is hard not to be addicted to.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDisco Inferno\u201d by The Trammps<\/p>\n<p>This song was first released by The Trammps on their album bearing the same name.
