Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt expressed his frustration<\/a> at the slow pace of vote counting Saturday as he saw his once-commanding lead in the primary<\/a> take a sharp hit in the lates ballot drop.<\/p>\n

The former reality star posted a photo of Russell Crowe from the film \u201cA Brilliant Mind,\u201d in which he portrays a mathematician.<\/p>\n

\u201cMe trying to figure out how votes get counted in LA,\u201d Pratt wrote.<\/p>\n

Fresh election results on Saturday showed him ahead of challenger Nithya Raman<\/a> by by just 7,494 votes, a steep drop from a margin of more than 20,000 only a day earlier.<\/p>\n

Her share of the vote jumped from 24.9% to 26.2%, while Pratt slipped from 28.2% to 27.3%. Roughly 78% of ballots had been counted as of Saturday.<\/p>\n

The post came a day after Los Angeles\u2019 top federal prosecutor announced that his office is pursuing several election fraud investigations alongside the FBI as questions continue to mount over California\u2019s slow-moving vote count.<\/p>\n

First Assistant US Attorney Bill Essayli told The California Post on Friday that he is working with the Department of Justice \u201cto conduct a comprehensive audit of California\u2019s voter rolls.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0A federal prosecutor also visited the Los Angeles County ballot processing facility<\/a> on Friday to tour the operation.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, Essayli urged members of the public to report any incidents of election fraud directly to his office.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile Pratt\u2019s wife, Heidi, was spotted running errands in Carpinteria, where Pratt said his family has \u201csheltered up\u201d at his father\u2019s house after their home burned down in the Palisades Fire.<\/p>\n

Back in Los Angeles, attention remained fixed on the county\u2019s ballot-counting center, where workers continued processing large numbers of outstanding ballots.<\/p>\n

The prolonged count has also renewed scrutiny of Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder\/County Clerk Dean Logan, the official overseeing the process.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Logan, whose total compensation is nearly $450,000 annually, is facing questions as several key races remain unresolved and hundreds of thousands of ballots await counting.<\/p>\n
