Andre Agassi couldn\u2019t wrap his head around Matteo Arnaldi withdrawing from the French Open semifinals, so instead he buried his hands in his face.<\/p>\n
Arnaldi withdrew from facing Flavio Cobolli just 25 minutes before the players were due on the court at Roland Garos. The world\u2019s No. 104-ranked player and a Cinderella semifinalist cited a viral illness.<\/p>\n

Host Adam Lefkoe broke the stunning news to the television panel of analysts live and Agassi\u2019s hands-to-face reaction showed his disbelief.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously, he\u2019s dealing with something that better be unimaginable,\u201d Agassi said on TNT.<\/p>\n
Arnaldi later detailed that he was unable to sleep and vomited once at 1 a.m. and then again a few hours later. He called a doctor to his room and the perscribed medicines didn\u2019t help him keep down food or liquids.<\/p>\n
Arnaldi said he is also dealing with dizziness.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not what I wanted to do,\u201d Arnaldi said. \u201cIt\u2019s tough. For how the tournament was, for how many hours I spent on the court, I was feeling very good. To have to withdraw from your first (Grand) Slam semifinal is not something you wish on anybody.\u201d<\/p>\n
Before Arnaldi explained his symptoms, Agassi put a twist on the old clich\u00e9: You can\u2019t win if you don\u2019t play.<\/p>\n

\u201cI could have beat Arnaldi today, at 56 years old,\u201d the eight-time Grand Slam champion said. \u201cIf you don\u2019t show up, you can\u2019t win. It\u2019s just disappointing. This tournament has been full of so many surprises. This is not the kind of surprise that anybody wants to see.\u201d<\/p>\n
