A list that has continued to grow in recent years, Alabama<\/a> basketball has a storied history of players who have been selected in the NBA draft, some of which have gone within the Top 10 overall picks.<\/p>\n

Among those are some of the greatest players to ever suit up for the Crimson Tide<\/a>, a list which includes former SEC Players of the Year, top recruits, and much more. A majority of these also went on to see success whilst in the NBA, with some still in the league today as some of their respective teams’ top players.<\/p>\n

Here are the five highest-drafted Alabama basketball players in NBA history, as of the 2025 draft, as well as what each went on to do in the league.<\/p>\n

\"Mar<\/p>\n

Miller is the first-of-two Alabama players who have been selected with the No. 2 overall pick, taken by the Charlotte Hornets<\/a> in the 2023 NBA draft. The former Alabama standout recently concluded his third season in Charlotte, and has averaged a combined 19 points, 4.6 rebounds, and three assists per game so far during his young NBA career.<\/p>\n

Antonio McDyess, Forward\"December<\/p>\n

McDyess is the second of those two Alabama players who have been selected No. 2 overall, taken with that pick in the 1995 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Clippers<\/a>. The former Alabama forward went on to have an accomplished 15-year NBA career in which he averaged a combined 12 points and 7.5 rebounds per game with five different teams, a stretch which also included one All-Star selection in 2000-01.<\/p>\n

Leon Douglas, Center<\/p>\n

Douglas was selected with the No. 4 overall pick in the 1976 NBA draft by the Detroit Pistons<\/a>. The former Alabama center went on to play seven seasons in the NBA with two different teams, averaging a combined 7.9 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.<\/p>\n

Sexton was Alabama’s highest-drafted player of the 2010’s, selected No. 8 overall in the 2018 NBA draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a>. The former Alabama guard recently concluded his eighth NBA season, and so far during his time in the league, has averaged a combined 18.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 3.6 assists a game with four different teams.<\/p>\n

Derrick McKey, Forward<\/p>\n

McKey came off the board with the No. 9 overall pick in the 1987 NBA draft, selected by the Seattle SuperSonics. A two-time NBA All-Defensive selection, McKey played 15 seasons in the league with three different teams, averaging a combined 11 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game.<\/p>\n
