Six people were injured in a stabbing inside Penn Station in Midtown on Sunday evening before a suspect was taken into custody, officials said.<\/p>\n
The incident was reported around 7:02 p.m. at West 33rd Street and Seventh Avenue, the FDNY said. Emergency responders were told that a person had stabbed multiple people at the location.<\/p>\n
Amtrak police later took the suspect into custody, authorities said. The person’s identity was not immediately released.<\/p>\n

FDNY officials said five of the six victims were taken to Bellevue Hospital. One person suffered serious injuries, two had moderate injuries and two had minor injuries.<\/p>\n
A sixth person was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian\/Weill Cornell Medical Center. The FDNY did not immediately provide that person’s condition.<\/p>\n
Mayor Zohran Mamdani said<\/a> Sunday night that the incident did not affect Amtrak service.<\/p>\n “My heart is with everyone who was injured, their loved ones, and all those shaken by this unacceptable violence,” he said on social media. “I\u2019m wishing each of the victims a full and speedy recovery.”<\/p>\n An ambulance is seen outside Penn Station in New York on June 7, 2026.<\/p>\n John Lamparski \/ AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n Gov. Kathy Hochul called the attack a “horrific” act of violence.<\/p>\n \u201cOur hearts are with the victims and their loved ones, and we are praying for their full recovery,\u201d Hochul said<\/a> on social media.<\/p>\n City Comptroller Mark Levine suggested the suspect may have been in mental distress. He said the incident raised questions about the city’s mental health system.<\/p>\n
