{"id":692244,"date":"2026-06-08T20:51:08","date_gmt":"2026-06-08T20:51:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/692244\/"},"modified":"2026-06-08T20:51:08","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T20:51:08","slug":"ashley-padilla-joins-emma-stone-chris-pine-romantic-comedy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/692244\/","title":{"rendered":"Ashley Padilla Joins Emma Stone Chris Pine Romantic Comedy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/ashley-padilla\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ashley-padilla_1\" data-tag=\"ashley-padilla\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ashley Padilla<\/a>, one of the true breakout stars to emerge from Saturday Night Live in the last several years, has joined to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/emma-stone\/\" id=\"auto-tag_emma-stone_1\" data-tag=\"emma-stone\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Emma Stone<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/chris-pine\/\" id=\"auto-tag_chris-pine_1\" data-tag=\"chris-pine\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chris Pine<\/a> in The Catch, a romantic comedy from Universal Pictures.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tDave McCary, who acted as a segment director on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/snl\/\" id=\"auto-tag_snl_1\" data-tag=\"snl\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SNL<\/a> in the 2010s and is married to Stone, is helming the feature, which begins shooting in July in New York.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tWhile many of the plot details are being kept in the catcher\u2019s mitt, sources say the rom-com is described as Bull Durham meets Notting Hill with Stone playing the most hated woman in baseball.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tPadilla will play Stone\u2019s sister.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tJen Statsky and Travis Helwig wrote\u00a0the\u00a0most recent draft of\u00a0the\u00a0script. Patrick Kang and Michael Levin wrote\u00a0the\u00a0original spec script.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tUniversal has set a May 21, 2027 release date for the picture.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe project has a bevvy of producers. Stone, McCary and Ali Herting are produce the comedy through via their Fruit Tree and its first look deal with Universal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAlso producing are Shawn Levy and Dan Levine via their 21 Laps, which is coming off the record-breaking success of\u00a0Backrooms. Michael H. Weber (500 Days of Summer) is also producing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tPadilla, who was once Diane Keaton\u2019s assistant and a member of LA comedy group The Groundlings, joined SNL in 2024, which was the show\u2019s 50th season.
