Davie was succeeded by former Google executive <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/matt-brittin\/\" id=\"auto-tag_matt-brittin\" data-tag=\"matt-brittin\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Matt Brittin<\/a> last month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tTalfan Davies, whose spell as interim boss will be remembered for him informing staff of 2,000 job cuts, becomes the BBC\u2019s first deputy DG since Anne Bulford left in 2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tHe will be responsible for shaping and delivering the BBC\u2019s editorial strategy, as well as safeguarding the public\u2019s trust in the corporation. A 28-year veteran at the BBC, he is very much the insider to Brittin\u2019s outsider.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tBrittin said: \u201cRhodri was the outstanding choice among several very strong candidates. He is a trusted, experienced leader \u2013 the BBC\u2019s values seem woven into his DNA. I\u2019ve got to know him myself in recent months and I\u2019ve seen at first-hand how invaluable his judgment, breadth of experience and sense of purpose are to this organisation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tTalfan Davies added: \u201cI\u2019m honoured to have been appointed deputy director general.
