He faces five to 99 years in prison.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">KRLD 1080 is live from the Karmelo Anthony trial in McKinney at the Collin County Courthouse &#8212; stay tuned for updates<\/p>\n<p>\ud83c\udfa5: Emily Capetillo <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/zgwwotF0mp\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/zgwwotF0mp<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 1080 KRLD (@KRLD) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/KRLD\/status\/2064424685832483051?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\">June 9, 2026<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Anthony, 19, was accused of stabbing 17-year-old Austin Metcalf last year at a track meet in Frisco, Texas. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.audacy.com\/krld\/news\/local\/closing-arguments-begin-in-high-profile-karmelo-anthony-murder-trial\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">After KRLD reported<\/a> that the defense rested its case Monday afternoon without calling Anthony to testify, the verdict was reached at around 2 p.m. CT Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>As people gathered outside of the Collin County Courthouse in McKinney Texas, there was some racial tension on the scene, with people screaming at each other nearly nose-to-nose. There were some supporters for Anthony and others for Metcalf.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s been a lot of yelling, a lot of screaming,\u201d said KRLD\u2019s Russell Scott. He said the atmosphere around the courthouse was \u201ctense,\u201d but that deputies were doing a good job of keeping order.<\/p>\n<p>It was also hot in McKinney as people waited to hear the verdict.
