When she returned to her old stomping grounds on Tuesday night, Angel Reese<\/a> had a point to prove to the Chicago Sky<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Reese and the Atlanta Dream<\/a> were made to work for it, but they ultimately held off the determined Sky in an intense WNBA Commissioner’s Cup game at Wintrust Arena. Reese recorded a 17-point, 17-rebound double-double and overcame six turnovers as the Dream pulled out an 82-75 victory.<\/p>\n

The double-double marked the 57th of Reese’s brief 75-game career. It pulled her into a tie with former NBA All-Star Blake Griffin for the second-most double-doubles by any player — NBA or WNBA — over the past 40 years.<\/p>\n

Reese has ripped off five successive double-doubles, and the Dream are 7-1 this season when she grabs at least 10 points and 10 rebounds in the same game.<\/p>\n

Even at this early stage of the season, Reese is on track to again lead the WNBA in rebounding. The two-time All-Star leads the league with 12.2 rebounds per game and 134 total boards.<\/p>\n

The Dream are 8-3 and have the look of a genuine title threat. Adding the history-making Reese to one of the league’s most talented rosters will do that.<\/p>\n
