Half of Americans fear that the rise of AI could put them or someone in their household out of work, according to \u200ba Reuters\/Ipsos \u200bpoll completed on Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">AI companies Anthropic, \u200b<a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/organizations\/openai\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:OpenAI;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;OpenAI&quot;}\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">OpenAI<\/a>, Google and Meta did \u200cnot immediately respond to requests for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">A White House official declined to comment on who would participate in the meeting Trump described in the Oval Office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">OpenAI is targeting a valuation of up to $1 trillion, Reuters previously reported. An agreement to give the U.S. government equity stakes could have \u200ca massive impact on the U.S. government&#8217;s \u200bfinances. OpenAI in April publicly proposed creating a &#8220;public \u200bwealth fund&#8221; to invest in \u200bAI companies, according to a company statement. Proceeds from the \u200cfund would be &#8220;distributed directly to citizens,&#8221; \u200baccording to the \u200bcompany.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, a Trump critic who sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016 and 2020, has expressed support for the \u200bidea.
