The Boston Red Sox<\/a>‘s season has not gone as many would have expected, but president and CEO Sam Kennedy does not see a major change coming to Craig Breslow<\/a>‘s position as chief baseball officer.<\/p>\n

The Red Sox entered play on Thursday sitting at 27-39 and in last place in the American League East. Breslow led the charge to fire Alex Cora earlier this season, and results have not been much better with Chad Tracy. The team came into the season with high expectations, and now Breslow figures to be the one to wear the blame with Cora gone.<\/p>\n

However, Kennedy assured that Breslow was not going to be fired during an appearance on “The Greg Hill Sho<\/a>w” on Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cLook, I fully understand and appreciate questions regarding Craig Breslow and his job security and all that, but the issue of a change there, just to be clear, it\u2019s not even on the table,”\u00a0said Kennedy of Breslow’s job security.\u00a0“He is working as hard as anybody in terms of getting things back on track, but again, words are hollow right now.<\/p>\n

Breslow took over as the Red Sox’s chief baseball officer before the 2024 season. The Red Sox made the postseason last year as a wild card team, but had a veryt buys offseaosn, hoping to win the AL East. They added Willson Contreras<\/a>, Sonny Gray<\/a>, Ranger Suarez<\/a>, Caleb Durbin<\/a> and Johan Oviedo<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Injuries and some slow starts have derailed the season, but they still have time to make a late push for a wild-card spot. They need to get Garrett Crochet<\/a> and Roman Anthony<\/a> back, but they also need the offense to be more consistent as a whole. Pitching-wise, the Red Sox have the 11th-best ERA in baseball, and that’s with Crochet missing a chunk of the season so far.<\/p>\n
