It’s not shocking that Brandon Bussi is getting the Game 5 start in the Stanley Cup Finals for the Carolina Hurricanes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Pressed into duty for a Game 4 start, he won that game to even the series at two games apiece. It’d be hard to sit him right after that.<\/p>\n

The weird part is what’s happening with Frederik Andersen.<\/p>\n

The veteran had been on a great playoff run, and when he was sat for Game 4, Carolina insisted he was fine and could get back sometime soon.<\/p>\n

He was the third-string goalie for that game, though, and he might not even be that on Thursday night for Game 5.<\/p>\n

Bussi is starting again, with Pyotr Kochetkov as the backup.<\/p>\n

The difference is that the Hurricanes hustled Amir Miftakhov up from the AHL to Raleigh before the game.<\/p>\n

ESPN’s Emily Kaplan reports that it “seems like Miftakhov is the third goalie tonight.”<\/p>\n

Anderson skated on Thursday morning but not as part of the Hurricanes’ morning skate.<\/p>\n

Brandon Bussi starts. Pyotr Kochetkov backs up. Amir Miftakhov told after AHL practice today to get to Raleigh. He landed just after 7pm, en route to arena.<\/p>\n

So is Andersen hurt? Did he tick someone off? Have the Hurricanes decided to just go in a total reverse direction?<\/p>\n

The Bussi move worked, and that’s what will be most noticed at the moment.<\/p>\n

But something odd happened with Andersen here, and it might not be until after the series that anyone really knows the whole scoop.<\/p>\n
