In its third World Cup<\/a>, Canada<\/a> is still seeking its first-ever win in the competition after a 1-1 draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina<\/a> to open group play.<\/p>\n

The Canadians trailed early in the match after a combination of headers off a corner that resulted in a goal by Bosnia and Herzegovina\u2019s Jovo Lukic<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Canada had plenty of close calls trying to level things before finally breaking through in the 78th minute on a beautiful strike in the box by Cyle Larin<\/a> that ended up in the back of the net.<\/p>\n

In the end, it was a deserved result that keeps both teams firmly in the mix with Group B\u2019s other contenders, Switzerland<\/a> and Qatar<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The second match of the day will feature the U.S. vs. Paraguay<\/a> in Group C as the Americans kick off their World Cup.<\/p>\n

My big takeaway from the draw is that Group B could be well-positioned for three teams in the Round of 32. I\u2019m not discounting Qatar entirely, but if Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina get wins against the Qataris, they, along with Switzerland, should be moving on.<\/p>\n

Canada nearly snatched back one more goal in the final minute of stoppage time, but a great block from the Bosnian defense keeps it level.<\/p>\n

Canada and B&H will leave the game with a point apiece \u2014 the first-ever World Cup point in Canada’s history, as Les Rouges had lost all six of its previous games in the tournament.<\/p>\n

Moments after subbing on, Cyle Larin hits a stunning finish through traffic to equalize for Les Rouges. Canada finally, finally finds the back of the net after knocking on the door for much of the second half.<\/p>\n

That’s Canada’s third World Cup goal all-time, and just the second scored by a Canadian player in the global tournament.<\/p>\n

Moments later, Jacob Shaffelburg tries to argue with the officials as well after what he thought was a missed call. The frustration for the Canadians is clear.<\/p>\n

A first just happened in the World Cup. B&H took way too long to take a throw-in and the referee whistled and changed possession to Canada.<\/p>\n

That is one of the new rules approved by FIFA<\/a> and IFAB that have been implemented with this World Cup.<\/p>\n

If someone can surpass what Sead Kola\u0161inac did to keep Bosnia and Herzegovina\u2019s lead at 1-0, it\u2019ll be otherwordly. It was a minor miracle Kola\u0161inac was able to keep Richie Laryea\u2019s shot out of the net.<\/p>\n

A lovely passing interplay by Canada sets up a chance by Richie Laryea, whose shot is cleared off the goal line and off the underside of the crossbar by Sead Kola\u0161inac.<\/p>\n

Moments later, a quick counterattack nearly sees Ermedin Demirovi\u0107 beat Maxime Cr\u00e9peau, but the Canada goalkeeper denies the opportunity.<\/p>\n

Medical teams are on to check on B&H goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj and Canada attacker Tani Oluwaseyi, who collided in the 49th minute just outside the Canada box. No DOGSO is called as Vasilj got to the ball first.<\/p>\n
