\n\tWhile Aaron Sorkin<\/a> is revisiting the godfather of Facebook, Jesse Eisenberg<\/a> has moved on from playing Mark Zuckerberg<\/a> after more than 15 years.<\/p>\n

\n\tFollowing their collaboration on The Social Network<\/a> (2010), which recounted Zuckerberg\u2019s creation of the social platform, Sorkin admitted he tried for three days to get Eisenberg to reprise his Oscar-nominated performance in The Social Reckoning<\/a>, which premieres Oct. 9 in theaters.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI felt like it belonged to him, and he was certainly battle-tested,\u201d he told Vanity Fair<\/a> of Eisenberg.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHe simply did not want to be conflated with Mark Zuckerberg anymore, that he has his problems with the guy,\u201d added Sorkin. \u201cHe doesn\u2019t like kids coming up to him in airports with business cards that say \u2018I\u2019m CEO, bitch\u2019 for him to sign.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFortunately for Sorkin, who first told Eisenberg he had a script for the sequel at 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, he met Jeremy Strong<\/a> at the same event, who told the Oscar-winning screenwriter that he\u2019d be interested in playing Zuckerberg if Eisenberg wasn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

\n\tStrong was attached to the role<\/a> in July 2025, and Sorkin noted he just \u201cfollowed his lead\u201d in making the sequel. \u201cHe showed up on his first day, and when he said \u2018good morning\u2019 to me, he was already talking like Mark,\u201d said Sorkin.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn The Social Reckoning, Facebook engineer Frances Haugen (Mikey Madison) goes to Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz (Jeremy Allen White) with the social media platform\u2019s most guarded secrets.
