\n\tNearly two years into Trump\u2019s second term, Laverne Cox<\/a> is feeling the administration\u2019s impact on her wallet as a Black trans woman.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Emmy winner recently explained that she\u2019s \u201clost so much money\u201d now that brands are \u201cvery scared\u201d to work with her after the White House\u2019s ongoing destruction of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI<\/a>) programs.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019ve lost so much money because of this administration, the past year,\u201d Cox told Attitude<\/a>. \u201cI managed to stay busy with acting and branding work, as well as speaking engagements. But I never thought college speaking gigs would dry up.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tAfter booking her breakout role on Netflix\u2019s Orange Is the New Black (2013-\u201919) at age 40, Cox noted that she previously had no savings or retirement, and was in student loan debt.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI was working really hard to get out of a financial hole,\u201d she explained. \u201cBut then I was also working hard to try to lift up my community. When Orange came out in 2013, I didn\u2019t know how long that moment would last. I didn\u2019t know how successful it would or wouldn\u2019t be.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Transcendent author has since done \u201cspeeches all over the country\u201d in attempt to \u201chumanize\u201d trans people and elevate their stories.<\/p>\n

\n\tBut with Trump taking office for his second nonconsecutive term last January, several Hollywood studios and media companies have followed his administration\u2019s directives on rolling back DEI<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tCox added, \u201cThis administration is very punitive with anything that suggests DEI or gender ideology, and corporations have been very scared. The past year or two, I\u2019ve had to dip into savings and my retirement fund.
