It\u2019s official.<\/p>\n
South Warren (Bowling Green, Ky.) High blanked a strong Bullitt East (Mt. Washington, Ky.) 8-0 Saturday night in the state championship game to finish 45-0 and solidify its hold onto the No. 1 spot in the Line Drive SUPER 70 High School Softball Team Rankings.<\/p>\n
In other words: we have your 2026 National Champs!<\/p>\n
Starting pitcher Courtney Norwood, the junior committed to the Kentucky Wildcats, pitched a two-hit masterpiece, not giving up the first hit until the 7th inning when her Lady Spartans already were comfortably ahead by the eight runs.<\/p>\n
The scoring came via two runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning, three in the 4th and the final three in the 6th.<\/p>\n
Norwood had five strikeouts\u2014including the last out of the game\u2014versus just one walk in the complete game victory. She finished her season with a sparkling 26-0 record.<\/p>\n
Offensively, the victory came courtesy of a balanced attack that saw seven of the South Warren players get at least one hit.<\/p>\n
Leadoff hitter McLaine Hudson, the outfielder signed with Florida State and this year\u2019s Kentucky Gatorade State Player of the Year<\/a> was the first of five straight in the lineup who are seniors and played their final game in Lady Spartan colors tonight.<\/p>\n She went 1-for-3, Hadley Borders (signed with Missouri) also was 1-for-3 with an RBI, Parker Willougby was 1-for-4 with an RBI, cleanup hitter Layla Odgen was 0-for-2 with a sac RBI and Kinleigh Russell was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.<\/p>\n Kaylee Wilson, batting in the 8-spot, also was 2-for-3.<\/p>\n For the Kentucky State tournament, Courtney Norwood was the MVP and Kinleigh Russell and McLaine Hudson were All-Tournament selections.<\/p>\n Here\u2019s the last out courtesy of Sporting Times:<\/p>\n THE FINAL OUT.
