Logan Thompson<\/a> had a fresh goalie mask drafted by a new friend.<\/p>\n

William Martel, a young fan battling a rare brain tumor, designed an awesome Capitals-themed mask as part of his radiation treatment. The radiation mask was inspired by Thompson\u2019s Screaming Eagle mask<\/a>, complete with the same six Caps players\u2019 names, numbers, and faces along the side and Screagle logos on top.<\/p>\n

Thompson saw the design and recently surprised Martel with a visit, hosting a joint design session with some blank goalie mask outlines.<\/p>\n

Thompson also gifted Martel a signed stick \u2014 about as tall as him \u2014 remarking that Martel would grow into it. \u201cI bet I will,\u201d Martel responded.<\/p>\n

The two spent some time talking and putting marker to paper after first deliberating what color to make their masks. Martel went with blue and red, with some yellow accents. Thompson seemed to draw inspiration from Martel, who told him his favorite number was 43.<\/p>\n

\u201c43? Haha, all right,\u201d Thompson said, clearly thinking of his good pal Tom Wilson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Wilson\u2019s number was certainly fitting, with his swollen face featured on the back of Thompson\u2019s mask<\/a>. After chuckling at the reveal, Thompson paid tribute to his bestie<\/a> and favorite prank target<\/a>\u00a0by including his number on the chin of his mask design.<\/p>\n

Martel\u2019s mother commented on the Capitals post, sharing her appreciation for the visit. \u201cThank you for making his treatment go just a little easier.
