\n US Vice President JD Vance on Sunday called the agreement reached with Iran \u201ca big moment for the United States of America,\u201d though he said there\u2019s still work to be done.\n <\/p>\n
\n \u201cI\u2019m not going to say that everybody\u2019s going to sing Kumbaya tomorrow,\u201d Vance said on Fox News. \u201cIt\u2019s going to take a little bit of time to learn the ways of peace, but I do think we took a major, major step tonight.\u201d\n <\/p>\n
\n Vance said the agreement is built around what he described as three core elements. No. 1 \u201cis the immediate opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and of course, the lifting of the naval blockade that we\u2019ve had on Iran, along with it.\u201d\n <\/p>\n
\n He said the second element is the assurance Iran will never pursue, procure or buy a nuclear weapon. The third element, he said, is compliance.\n <\/p>\n
\n \u201cThis only happens, to be clear, if Iran delivers on their promise,\u201d Vance said.\n <\/p>\n
\n The vice president also emphasized the positive economic implications for US consumers, who have been hit by months of high gas prices<\/a>.\n <\/p>\n \n \u201cI guess my primary message to the American people is \u2018thank you.\u2019 Because of your patience, I think that we solved the problem that has plagued this country,\u201d for decades, he said.\n <\/p>\n \n He said Trump has \u201ccertainly been very concerned about\u201d high gas prices, \u201cbut what we\u2019re going to be able to do is drive down the cost of energy, not just now but for the long term.\u201d\n <\/p>\n
