SALT LAKE CITY \u2014 Utah has added a quarterback to its 2027 recruiting class. Campo Verde High School quarterback Jonah Lubno committed to the Utes following his official visit to Salt Lake City this weekend.<\/p>\n
His pledge gives Utah an intriguing developmental passer with size, mobility and legitimate dual-threat production.<\/p>\n
Lubno, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound quarterback out of Gilbert, Arizona, becomes the latest addition to Morgan Scalley\u2019s 2027 class and gives quarterbacks coach Ryan Gunderson another young signal-caller to build around.<\/p>\n
For Utah, this is not just a box-checking quarterback take. Lubno fits the profile of what the Utes have been looking for at the position: a strong-bodied passer with enough athleticism to be part of the run game, extend plays outside structure and grow within a system that asks quarterbacks to make answers both before and after the snap.<\/p>\n

That makes Lubno an interesting long-term addition, especially because his best football should still be ahead of him.<\/p>\n A Productive Dual-Threat Profile<\/p>\n According to MaxPreps, Lubno threw for 1,357 yards and 16 touchdowns while completing 65 percent of his passes during the 2025 season. He also added 422 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground, giving him 30 total touchdowns over 10 games.<\/p>\n That rushing production is the part of the evaluation that stands out most.<\/p>\n Lubno is not simply a quarterback who can scramble when a play breaks down. His junior season also included nine interceptions, which points to the natural growth area for a young quarterback transitioning from high school production to a Power Four projection.<\/p>\n Utah does not need Lubno to arrive as a finished product. The Utes need him to arrive as a moldable quarterback with the tools to grow into the system. His commitment gives Utah a player who can be developed physically, mentally and mechanically over time.<\/p>\n Utah Continues To Build Momentum<\/p>\n Lubno\u2019s commitment also continues Utah\u2019s recruiting push after another important official visit weekend.<\/p>\n The Utes have been aggressive in building relationships with 2027 prospects across the West, especially in Utah, Arizona, California, Texas and the Pacific Northwest. Lubno\u2019s commitment gives Utah another offensive piece while further establishing the staff\u2019s quarterback board for the cycle.<\/p>\n At 6-foot-3 and over 200 pounds, Lubno brings a sturdy frame. With 14 rushing touchdowns as a junior, he brings real mobility. With a 65 percent completion rate, he brings enough passing efficiency to believe there is more to unlock.<\/p>\n For Utah, this is a quarterback commitment that fits the long game. Lubno is not just a name added to the class. He is a developmental bet on size, toughness, mobility and growth \u2014 traits that have real value in the Big 12.<\/p>\n And after getting him on campus for an official visit, the Utes were able to close.<\/p>\n The Bottom Line<\/p>\n Jonah Lubno gives Utah a legitimate developmental quarterback in the 2027 class.
