CHICAGO \u2014 More severe storms are on their way to Chicago as some residents are still picking up from last week\u2019s storms that toppled trees and downed power lines, according to the National Weather Service. <\/p>\n
Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to see \u201cstrong to severe\u201d storms roll through the area, with Wednesday likely having the higher threat of damaging storms and significant rainfall, the weather service\u2019s five-day forecast states<\/a>. <\/p>\n The storms could bring the return of weather conditions that last week left thousands without power in Chicago and city workers scrambling to clear debris well into the weekend. <\/p>\n The storms<\/a> uprooted trees and destroyed infrastructure across the city after blowing through Chicago, with winds reaching over 70 miles per hour on Wednesday night. More than 45,000 Chicagoans remained without power as of Friday, according to a spokesperson for ComEd.<\/p>\n Mild and less humid weather will start off the work week, before thunderstorm chances return Tuesday and Wednesday. Nearly 700 traffic signals were reported damaged by the storms.<\/p>\n Saturday and Sunday saw the return of heavy rains, which temporarily led to a flood warning in the area<\/a>.<\/p>\n Monday will see dry conditions and temperatures in the mid 70s.
