The Kansas City Chiefs decided not to re-sign JuJu Smith-Schuster this offseason. He had spent three of the past four seasons in Kansas City but the Chiefs decided they were content with moving on, even with the perceived weaknesses they have at the wide receiver position. <\/p>\n

Apparently, that might have been the right call. Smith-Schuster recently inked a deal with the New York Giants, who were banged up at wide receiver and needed some bodies during OTAs. It hasn’t gone well for Smith-Schuster as a member of the G-Men. <\/p>\n

Jake Elman of GMEN HQ wrote about how the former Chiefs wideout is already struggling<\/a> in the Big Apple and put together all of the evidence as to why Smith-Schuster might not be a Giant for long. Elman discussed how the Giants had also signed Odell Beckham Jr. and how the former Giants first-round pick who recently rejoined the team is outplaying Smith-Schuster by a long shot. <\/p>\n

“If OTAs are any indication, then only one of them has a chance to crack the Week 1 roster, and it\u2019s not Smith-Schuster. The 29-year-old Smith-Schuster went viral earlier this week for looking slow in practice and dropping an easy deep ball.”<\/p>\n

Elman then shared a video from SNY’s Ralph Vacchiano<\/a> that showed Smith-Schuster struggling. Not good. <\/p>\n

JuJu Smith-Schuster might not be with the Giants for much longer<\/p>\n

Elman wasn’t done with his critique on the former Chiefs wideout. He noted that there’s a reason why the Chiefs and other teams ignored Smith-Schuster in free agency. <\/p>\n

“Smith-Schuster has done nothing to help his own case. It\u2019s telling that a 29-year-old receiver with 80 catches and 27 starts the last three years went unsigned until June 1.”<\/p>\n

Yeah, it’s hard to argue with that. Smith-Schuster was a solid player for Kansas City in 2022 when he first joined them, tallying 78 catches for 933 yards and three touchdowns. He signed with the Patriots the next offseason but was clearly not the same player after dealing with an injury. Smith-Schuster returned to Kansas City in 2024 and also played for the Chiefs in 2025 but never had more than 350 yards either year. <\/p>\n

It’s not surprising to see Smith-Schuster likely on his way out of New York already, as he was a late addition to their squad and was always going to have an uphill battle to make the roster. Maybe he finds his way back to Kansas City at some point but after seeing him struggle with the Giants, the writing could very much be on the wall for JuJu Smith-Schuster at this stage of his career. <\/p>\n
