{"id":70578,"date":"2025-08-09T18:20:06","date_gmt":"2025-08-09T18:20:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/70578\/"},"modified":"2025-08-09T18:20:06","modified_gmt":"2025-08-09T18:20:06","slug":"north-carolina-lands-kate-harpring-no-4-in-2026-espnw-100","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/70578\/","title":{"rendered":"North Carolina lands Kate Harpring, No. 4 in 2026 ESPNW 100"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/high-school\/girls-basketball\/recruiting\/player\/_\/id\/252399\/kate-harpring\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kate Harpring<\/a>, the No. 4 player in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/high-school\/girls-basketball\/recruiting\/rankings\/scnext100girls\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">2026 ESPNW 100<\/a> class, has committed to <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"db29f580-ff0c-6f2c-0fde-7ce7e276cbe8\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/womens-college-basketball\/team\/_\/id\/153\/north-carolina-tar-heels\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">North Carolina<\/a>, she announced Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The 5-foot-10 guard had taken official visits to North Carolina, UCLA, Iowa and Vanderbilt and had offers from nearly every major program, including UConn, South Carolina, Duke, Texas and Tennessee.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m so excited to be committing to North Carolina after an incredibly difficult decision process,&#8221; she told ESPN. &#8220;Coach [Courtney] Banghart&#8217;s confidence in me has me ready to join the UNC family.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Most recently seen helping the USA U19 team to a gold medal at the FIBA U19 World Cup, Harpring is a tough combo guard who broke out last year.
