PHOENIX \u2014 Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs announced on Wednesday that her office is taking action to lower prescription drug costs for Arizonans.<\/p>\n
Hobbs is signing an executive order for the state to partner with ArrayRx<\/a> \u2014 an Oregon-based nonprofit consortium that helps provide discounts for medication.<\/p>\n VERSI\u00d3N EN ESPA\u00d1OL: La gobernadora de Arizona anuncia colaboraci\u00f3n para reducir el costo de medicamentos con receta<\/a><\/p>\n Through the partnership, Arizonans will be eligible for the group’s drug discount card<\/a> program. The program is free for any resident in the state of Arizona, and provides discounts up to 80% for generic drugs.<\/p>\n AARP Arizona State Director Dana Kennedy called the new program a lifeline for Arizonans in need of critical medication.\u00a0<\/p>\n “We’re not done fighting this fight, but this is action we can take right now,” Hobbs said.<\/p>\n Rising healthcare costs have become a major focus for Hobbs’ administration.<\/p>\n Last year, her office announced a partnership with the national nonprofit, Undue Medical Debt, that would cancel $2 billion of medical debt for up to one million Arizonans.\u00a0<\/p>\n Earlier this summer, Hobbs announced that they’d that $429 million has been canceled so far, impacting more than 352,000 Arizonans.<\/p>\n >> Download the 12News app<\/a> for the latest local breaking news straight to your phone.<\/p>\n
