The New York Mets<\/a> lost another starting pitcher to the injured list Monday but will be getting Kodai Senga back for Tuesday’s game against the Cincinnati Reds<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The team placed right-hander Christian Scott<\/a> on the 15-day injured list with a hip impingement on Monday.<\/p>\n

Scott and Senga both had bullpen sessions on Sunday. Manager Carlos Mendoza said Scott felt some discomfort after his last outing on June 11 against St. Louis, when the right-hander allowed four runs and three homers in 4 innings. Scott got treatment but still didn’t feel well after throwing his bullpen. He had been scheduled to start Tuesday; Senga will replace him on the mound.<\/p>\n

“We decided to send [Scott] for an MRI right away that showed the hip injury,” Mendoza said before Monday’s game. “He had a cortisol shot yesterday and is feeling a lot better already. So, we’re hoping this is a minimal stint on the IL.”<\/p>\n

Scott, who turned 27 on Monday, has a 3.10 ERA across nine starts this season.<\/p>\n

The Mets already had starter Clay Holmes<\/a> (fibula) on the injured list while dealing with struggles from David Peterson<\/a>, an All-Star last season with a 5.75 ERA in 61 innings this season. Holmes is not expected to return until August.<\/p>\n

In other moves Monday, the Mets optioned right-hander Daniel Duarte<\/a> to Triple-A Syracuse, called up righties Tobias Myers and Jonathan Pintaro and claimed infielder Zack Short off waivers from the Tigers. They also transferred Jorge Polanco<\/a> to the 60-day injured list.<\/p>\n

The Mets are coming off a series win over the first-place Atlanta Braves<\/a> but remain in last place in the National League East with a 32-39 record entering Monday. They begin a six-game road with three games in Cincinnati starting Monday followed by three games in Philadelphia against the Phillies.<\/p>\n
