The Pittsburgh Steelers added a rookie receiver with Western Pennsylvania roots.<\/p>\n
Pine-Richland graduate Levi Wentz, who played college football at Kansas, Albany and Old Dominion, signed Monday, the team announced. The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder played one season of high school football, having joined the WPIAL team as a senior.<\/p>\n
Wentz initially signed in April with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent and was waived last week.<\/p>\n
At Kansas, Wentz made 16 catches for 258 yards and two touchdowns last season. He played in 12 games with six starts. A year earlier, Wentz had 40 receptions, 621 yards and one touchdown in 12 games for Albany. In all, he played 36 games over five college seasons.<\/p>\n
As a defensive back, Wentz helped Pine-Richland reach the WPIAL finals in 2019. He had 45 tackles, nine pass breakups and two interceptions and was selected for the Big 33 Football Classic that season.<\/p>\n
