After a monster week in Baton Rouge, LSU<\/a>\u2018s added another key piece to its 2027 recruiting class. <\/p>\n

After landing commitments from four-star EDGE KJ Green<\/a>, cornerback Markez Davis<\/a>, four-star receiver Cade Cooper<\/a>, the Tigers have landed another major piece in Terrance Smith<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Lansdale (Pa.) Lansdale Catholic<\/a> standout chose LSU over Auburn<\/a>, Rutgers<\/a> and Tennessee<\/a>, giving the Tigers one of the top offensive line prospects in the Northeast.<\/p>\n

Smith ranks No. 237 overall in the Rivals Industry Ranking<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The relationship with offensive line coach Eric Wolford<\/a> played a major role in LSU\u2019s rise.<\/p>\n

Wolford recruited Smith while at Kentucky<\/a> and immediately went back to work when he joined the LSU staff.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs soon as he got there, he hit me up and started trying to get me over there because we already had that relationship,\u201d Smith said. \u201cFrom day one, I loved it over there.\u201d<\/p>\n

That relationship only grew stronger throughout the process.<\/p>\n

\u201cCoach Wolf is not only a great coach, but he\u2019s a great guy. He\u2019s never changed. Since the day I met him at Kentucky, I knew he was different. He knows how to build a family and build relationships with his players.\u201d<\/p>\n

Smith said Wolford\u2019s track record stood out as much as anything.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen Coach Wolf brings his guys in and coaches them, those guys still reach out to him when they\u2019re in the NFL,\u201d Smith said. \u201cThey\u2019re inviting him to weddings. It just shows the relationships he can build and the development speaks for itself.<\/p>\n

\u201cCoach Wolford was a big part of why I chose LSU.\u201d<\/p>\n

LSU offered much more than one relationship, however.<\/p>\n

The four-star offensive lineman believes the Tigers checked every box he was looking for in a program.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always been looking for the same three things in a school: relationships, culture and development,\u201d Smith said. \u201cThese schools all checked those boxes, but LSU just made the most sense for me.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you look at the whole offensive staff, all the position coaches are amazing coaches. Then you have Coach Kiffin and Coach Weiss. I think they\u2019re honestly two of the best offensive minds in the game right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Away from football, Smith plans to major in finance and believes LSU can help him long after his playing career ends.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith all the alumni and people that support the program, it gives me a window to pursue that at a young age and get connections early on,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen I\u2019m done with football, I won\u2019t be panicking trying to find something to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Smith visited Baton Rouge three times and quickly became comfortable around the program.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe family feel there is one to none,\u201d Smith said. \u201cEven the people working in the building are super respectful and nice.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also sees a bright future under the Tigers\u2019 leadership.<\/p>\n

\u201cCoach Kiffin is a super smart guy, and I think that\u2019s what you need in an offense. The name LSU speaks volumes, and with the resources and coaching staff they have, I think they\u2019re going to do very well.\u201d<\/p>\n

As decision day approached, Smith compared the pros and cons of each finalist.<\/p>\n

In the end, LSU stood above the rest.<\/p>\n
