Jim Courier has admitted that he\u2019s really excited to watch one American talent play at the Cincinnati Open and beyond this year.<\/p>\n

And, in his opinion, fans of the sport should be too.<\/p>\n

After all, in his eyes, he has an intriguing, \u2018unorthodox\u2019 play style that should capture attention regardless of whether he wins or loses.<\/p>\n

Fortunately for the player in question, he has been winning far more often throughout 2025, finally enjoying a period of stability after his form and fitness had failed him.<\/p>\n

Battling through suspension too, the US Open could provide the perfect platform for Jenson Brooksby to shine.<\/p>\n

Speaking live on Tennis Channel ahead of his tough Cincinnati Open<\/a> first-round match, Jim Courier<\/a> was effusive in his praise for the 24-year-old.<\/p>\n

It was soon justified, as he rallied to win in three sets against a solid opponent, Alexandre Muller.<\/p>\n

Regardless of how the match would have gone, his claims would have remained valid, as he noted: \u201cIt\u2019s amazing. Ranked right around 100 in the world right now, already a titleist this year as a qualifier, won the title in Houston, and then qualified and made another final for good measure in Eastbourne on the grass, where Taylor Fritz stopped him. So it\u2019s been wonderful to see Jensen really get back in business. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe two wrist surgeries on both wrists, the unfortunate suspension, and now back, befuddling opponents with his really unorthodox game, so fun to see. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd there\u2019s some new wrinkles too. He\u2019s worked a lot on his service motion. We\u2019ll get into more detail on that as we go. But he\u2019s someone to cheer for, in my opinion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Where are the top American men ranked at the moment?<\/p>\n

Although Courier may be excited by Brooksby, he is one of a deep pool of American talent on the ATP.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a testament to this depth in quality that he is the 15th-highest ranked from the US.<\/p>\n

Naturally, the likes of Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, Tommy Paul and Frances Tiafoe make up the apex of that list, with stars like Learner Tien, Brandon Nakashima and Alex Michelsen just behind them, ranked between 30th and 50th in the world.<\/p>\n

Shelton became the youngest American since Pete Sampras to achieve a huge feat<\/a> in Toronto earlier this week, as he beat Fritz, his fellow American.<\/p>\n

Maros Giron is just outside of that, whilst Aleksandar Kova\u010devi\u0107 and Reilly Opelka are 68th and 69th, respectively.<\/p>\n

Ethan Quinn, Sebastian Korda, Emilio Nava and Mackenzie McDonald make up the final four Americans who are all higher ranked than Brooksby.<\/p>\n

Hopefully, that can change in the coming months.<\/p>\n
