WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) — One person is dead, and a suspect remains at large, after a double shooting on Tuesday afternoon inside Wilmington Hospital in Delaware.<\/p>\n

Investigators are still working to track down the suspect and confirm his identity, officials said at an evening news conference.<\/p>\n

The condition of the second person who was shot is not being released at this time, nor is the identity of the victims.<\/p>\n

Wilmington Hospital was placed on lockdown after the shooting, but that has since been lifted.<\/p>\n

Officers were called to the facility in the 500 block of W. 14th Street around 3:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

Law enforcement sources tell ABC News that preliminary information indicates the incident began when one hospital employee shot two other employees.<\/p>\n

Brian Pfeffer is a hospital guide who was in the Emergency Department at the time of the gunfire. He said he heard the shots, and was there as armed police entered the building.<\/p>\n

“It was super intense. I’m kind of shaking,” he said. “God forbid anyone should have to be a part of that.”<\/p>\n

Chopper 6 video showed people leaving the hospital with their hands up.<\/p>\n

Action Cam video showed a number of police vehicles at the entrance to the hospital’s Emergency Department late Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

A large number of police, firefighters and medics could be seen.<\/p>\n

ChristianaCare, which operates the hospital, said in an emailed statement it was diverting patients from its emergency department and “taking all appropriate steps to ensure the safety of our patients, caregivers and visitors.”<\/p>\n
