{"id":709858,"date":"2026-06-17T17:21:10","date_gmt":"2026-06-17T17:21:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/709858\/"},"modified":"2026-06-17T17:21:10","modified_gmt":"2026-06-17T17:21:10","slug":"nc-state-women-finish-ninth-in-ustfccca-program-of-the-year-standings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/709858\/","title":{"rendered":"NC State Women Finish Ninth in USTFCCCA Program of the Year Standings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NEW ORLEANS &#8211; The United States Track &amp; Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its final standings for the USTFCCCA\u00a0Terry Crawford Division I Women&#8217;s Program of the Year yesterday, with the NC State women ranked ninth.<\/p>\n<p>The Wolfpack&#8217;s strong finish was highlighted by a national championship in cross country, where NC State captured the 2025 NCAA title by 16 points over runner-up BYU.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The margin was equally slim in average time, as the Wolfpack edged out BYU by just 0.02 seconds. The championship marked NC State&#8217;s fourth national title in the last five seasons.<\/p>\n<p>During the indoor track &amp; field season, the Wolfpack tied for 23rd at the NCAA Championships. NC State scored points in the mile, distance medley relay (DMR) and 3000 meters, with each event producing a top-10 finish.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gopack.com\/sports\/track-and-field\/roster\/sadie-engelhardt\/16770\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"16770\" target=\"_blank\">Sadie Engelhardt<\/a> placed third in the mile, while <a href=\"https:\/\/gopack.com\/sports\/track-and-field\/roster\/bethany-michalak\/14126\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"14126\" target=\"_blank\">Bethany Michalak<\/a>, Shaune Ingraham, <a href=\"https:\/\/gopack.com\/sports\/track-and-field\/roster\/angelina-napoleon\/13238\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"13238\" target=\"_blank\">Angelina Napoleon<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/gopack.com\/sports\/track-and-field\/roster\/hannah-gapes\/13216\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"13216\" target=\"_blank\">Hannah Gapes<\/a> combined for a fifth-place finish in the DMR. Napoleon also added a 10th-place finish in the 3000 meters.<\/p>\n<p>The Wolfpack followed with a tie for 29th place at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Napoleon led the way with a fourth-place finish in the steeplechase, while <a href=\"https:\/\/gopack.com\/sports\/track-and-field\/roster\/kate-putman\/13244\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"13244\" target=\"_blank\">Kate Putman<\/a> finished sixth in the event. Engelhardt placed 11th in the 1500 meters, Gapes finished 11th in the 5000 meters and Michalak took 17th in the 5000m.<\/p>\n<p>NC State was the second highest-ranked program in the ACC. The only other conference schools to appear in the final standings were Stanford University (7th)\u00a0and\u00a0University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (15th).<\/p>\n<p>To be eligible for the USTFCCCA Program of the Year Award, institutions must qualify for the NCAA Championships in cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field.
