A Coco Gauff and Serena Williams doubles partnership could be coming this season.<\/p>\n

After doubles specialists Erin Routliffe and Giuliana Olmos scored a 6-4, 6-4 sweep of Karolina Muchova and Serena Williams in the Berlin Tennis Open doubles opener on Tuesday, Williams shared she considered asking Gauff to play doubles on the German lawn.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would really love to play with Coco,\u201d Williams said after the second doubles match of her comeback on Tuesday. \u201cTo be honest, she was on my list of people that I would love to play with. I should have done better research on who was on the charts, but Karolina is such a great player.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s such a beautiful player, and she\u2019s someone that I love to watch.\u201d<\/p>\n

Informed that 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena wants to join forces, Gauff said she\u2019s \u201cvery excited\u201d to partner the four-time Olympic gold-medal champion one day.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, she [Serena] is definitely one of the main reasons why I decided to play tennis, for sure,\u201d Gauff said in Berlin. \u201cYeah, it\u2019d be really cool. I\u2019m hoping that one day she\u2019ll hit up my line to play doubles. That would be really, really cool.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd if she were to compete in singles, it would be cool to step on the court with her just because she\u2019s a legend and someone I looked up to. I\u2019m very excited to be in the same spaces as her again.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 44-year-old Serena Williams, who will partner 46-year-old sister Venus Williams in this month\u2019s Wimbledon doubles, suggested she will ask Gauff to play in the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love watching Coco as well,\u201d Serena Williams said. \u201cNow that I know that [she\u2019s available to play] \u2014 and she\u2019s so focused on singles nowadays. I guess I should have asked, though.
