Valerie Bertinelli\u00a0is reflecting on her days working with a television icon.<\/p>\n

In a clip from \u201cThe Drew Barrymore Show\u201d shared earlier this week, Bertinelli can be seen answering questions from the audience. <\/p>\n

When one fan asked what the best piece of advice she\u2019s ever received was, she brought up one of her former co-stars.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe best piece of advice is from Betty White,\u201d Bertinelli said.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe really taught me about gratitude. I thought I was grateful. She was just living, breathing gratitude, every second of her life, every moment I was around her.\u201d<\/p>\n

She went on to say that White \u201cwas grateful for the good, the bad, the ugly, all of it,\u201d and that outlook has helped her deal with \u201creally challenging things of the past five years,\u201d saying \u201cI\u2019m grateful for the hard stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s sucked, and I wish I didn\u2019t have to go through it, but there was no other way for me to learn a better way,\u201d Bertinelli continued. \u201cAnd I think mistakes are there purposefully to help us learn what not to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

She concluded: \u201cSo, gratitude for sure. Every moment, I\u2019m grateful for. Even the hard stuff. Especially the hard stuff. That\u2019s Betty White.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bertinelli and White starred alongside each other on the hit show \u201cHot In Cleveland\u201d<\/a> for six seasons, from 2010 to 2015. <\/p>\n

White played Elka Ostrovsky, the elderly homeowner Bertinelli\u2019s character and her friends rent a house from when they decide to move from Los Angeles to Cleveland.<\/p>\n

She also spoke about her relationship with White during her appearance on the talk show in June, saying \u201cshe was magical,\u201d and calling herself \u201clucky\u201d to have been able \u201cto work with her for five years.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress has been very vocal about her recent struggles on social media<\/a>, often taking to Instagram to share what she is going through. <\/p>\n

In May 2025, she shared with her followers that she is \u201cgoing through some of the most emotionally excruciating eight months of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not to say I feel sorry for myself because I don\u2019t. Nobody has the market cornered on grief and heartache. People go through hard s\u2014 all the time. You just do what you have to do to get through what you have to get through,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I don\u2019t know that I would change any of it. I\u2019ve learned so much more about my strength, my weaknesses, my patience, my resilience, and my worth. I still have more inner work left to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Two months later, Bertinelli took to the social media app to share that she is\u00a0struggling to remain sober\u00a0during her more difficult moments.<\/p>\n

\"BettyBertinelli said, \u201cShe really taught me about gratitude. I thought I was grateful. She was just living, breathing gratitude, every second of her life, every moment I was around her.\u201d WireImage<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been going through some really intense, uncomfortable, sad, emotionally excruciating feelings the last few days, and I want to drink. I want to numb it. I don\u2019t want to feel it,\u201d Bertinelli admitted.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cBut my logical mind is like, \u2018No, you don\u2019t want to do that. You don\u2019t want to numb it. You know what will help you feel better is to just feel the feelings. Get through to the other side. Have a good cry.\u2019 And yet, I can\u2019t cry.\u201d<\/p>\n

While she didn\u2019t disclose what her specific struggles have been, she\u00a0broke up with her boyfriend\u00a0Mike Goodnough in November 2024<\/a>, after 10 months of dating.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Valerie Bertinelli\u00a0is reflecting on her days working with a television icon.
