In Lebanon, Israel said it targeted Tehran-backed militant group Hezbollah across the south of the country overnight and early Friday, killing at least 18 people, Lebanon\u2019s health officials reported. <\/p>\n
Israeli military said four of its soldiers were killed as Hezbollah also reported fighting in the area.<\/p>\n
There was no immediate reaction from Iranian officials, with the country\u2019s state media reporting on the postponement of the talks but not laying out the reasons for it. <\/p>\n
Iran\u2019s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei said President Donald Trump brought about the interim agreement \u201cout of desperation.\u201d <\/p>\n
In a statement released on Telegram Thursday night, Khamenei said he \u201cheld a different view\u201d on the memorandum of understanding, but gave his permission anyway, adding that Iran won\u2019t submit to any \u201cexcessive\u201d American demands. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt is self-evident that the in-person negotiations that will take place in the future will not mean acceptance of the enemy\u2019s position,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n
