{"id":714760,"date":"2026-06-20T03:05:14","date_gmt":"2026-06-20T03:05:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/714760\/"},"modified":"2026-06-20T03:05:14","modified_gmt":"2026-06-20T03:05:14","slug":"jon-rahm-lets-expletive-fly-in-frustrated-u-s-open-outburst","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/714760\/","title":{"rendered":"Jon Rahm lets expletive fly in frustrated U.S. Open outburst"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jon Rahm was letting off some steam on the ninth hole after missing a putt for birdie and he screamed out an expletive during the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/06\/18\/sports\/shinnecock-bares-its-teeth-as-us-open-opens-with-fog-whipping-winds\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">second round of the U.S. Open<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rahm missed chances to par or birdie the previous three holes Friday, and when he missed another shot at a birdie on nine, he had enough.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He missed the putt just right of the cup and watched as it rolled by.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Warning: Graphic language<\/p>\n<p>Rahm flipped his club in the air and shouted \u201cF\u2013k off!\u201d as he walked away from the shot.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 2021 U.S. Open winner did finish the hole with par heading into the turn.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On the holes prior, Rahm had bogeyed on six when his putt for birdie missed right of the cup and then his shot for par hit the edge and rimmed out on the par-4 hole.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rahm wasn\u2019t able to putt for par on seven and on eight, another birdie opportunity from roughly 13 feet went left of the hole.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.82531194;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"39729895\" width=\"1024\" height=\"561\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Screenshot-2026-06-19-at-1.00.52-PM.png\" alt=\"A male golfer in a white cap and blue shirt bends over, watching his golf club fly in the air after a shot, with a scoreboard visible on the right.\" class=\"wp-image-39729895\"  \/>Jon Rahm didn\u2019t take this miss well @NUCLRGOLF\/X<\/p>\n<p>It was a starkly different round than his first-round performance, which began Thursday and Rahm had to finish Friday due to a suspension of play because of nightfall.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rahm finished up his round without shooting a single bogey, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/GLFPerformances\/status\/2067940360681132108\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">which no golfer was able to do <\/a>during the 2018 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The later groups benefited from the fog delay that pushed things back roughly two hours Thursday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.78086957;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"39729934\" width=\"1024\" height=\"575\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Screenshot-2026-06-19-at-1.01.45-PM.png\" alt=\"A golfer walks on a green course, with a leaderboard showing &quot;1 Clark&quot;
