Co-hosts of \u201cThe View\u201d grilled Joy Behar on Friday about being a courteous host to Vice President JD Vance when he appeared on the liberal daytime talk show on Tuesday, and she argued she was simply following the example of the late Barbara Walters.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s like with JD. He was here the other day,\u201d Behar said as the panel looked back on the interview with Vance<\/a>. \u201cI respect the office. I believe in reaching across the aisle. I do.\u201d<\/p>\n Moments later, co-host Sunny Hostin asked, \u201cBut I want to know, why were you so in love with JD Vance?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI wasn\u2019t in love. I\u2019m not in love with him, and I\u2019m not in love with this administration,\u201d Behar replied.<\/p>\n During a press conference on Wednesday, Vance addressed skepticism about his skills in \u201chostile, high-stakes negotiations\u201d with Iran by joking that his\u00a0appearance on \u201cThe View\u201d\u00a0was all the proof anyone needed<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI would point those progressive critics to the fact that just two days ago, I spent over an hour on \u2018The View,\u2019 so I actually have great experience in very hostile negotiations,\u201d he quipped. \u201cLook, Joy Behar is way tougher than the Iranians, and she and I are best friends now.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe View\u201d co-host Sunny Hostin asked Joy Behar, \u201cWhy were you so in love with JD Vance?\u201d Getty Images<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not in love with him, and I\u2019m not in love with this administration,\u201d Behar replied. We were more difficult to deal with than the Iranian government?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s being funny, I think,\u201d Behar replied, as co-host Ana Navarro replied and wished that Behar could be the one negotiating with the Iranian government.<\/p>\n \u201cHe came in strategically prepared to disarm us with niceness. He came in being affable and laughing easily and being very nice,\u201d Navarro said in reference to Vance. \u201cIt worked on you. Didn\u2019t work on me,\u201d she then said to Behar.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cIt didn\u2019t work on me either,\u201d Hostin added.<\/p>\n Vance had joked that his appearance on \u201cThe View\u201d proved he could handle negotiations with Iran. I respect the office.
