WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The Cameron Art Museum hosted its Community Day on Saturday, bringing neighbors of all ages in to explore the museum and make art.<\/p>\n
Activities at the event are inspired by the museum\u2019s new exhibits, including the exhibit \u201cFresh Air: Inflatable Sculptures.\u201d<\/p>\n
Activities like an inflatable sculpture workshop, indigo dyeing and community weaving brought visitors into a world of color, texture and movement at no cost.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe always want to make sure that there\u2019s time for people to come out and experience the museum for the first time,\u201d September Krueger, curator of education and public programs at Cameron Art Museum, said.<\/p>\n
Leaders say the event is about building community and showcasing what art can offer.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhether it is you with your family, or whether it is the person next to you that you\u2019ve never met before, there\u2019s nothing like being in community together and creating together,\u201d Krueger said.<\/p>\n
Three new exhibits are on display at the Cameron Art Museum: \u201cFresh Air: Inflatable Sculptures,\u201d \u201cAndy Warhol: Silver Clouds\u201d and \u201cRooted in Memory: The Gullah Geechee Vision of Jonathan Green.\u201d<\/p>\n
