(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsfa.com\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"http:\/\/www.wsfa.com\">WSFA<\/a>) &#8211; After <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsfa.com\/2025\/05\/21\/who-is-responsible-what-montgomery-museum-fine-arts\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wsfa.com\/2025\/05\/21\/who-is-responsible-what-montgomery-museum-fine-arts\/\">years of setbacks<\/a>, the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts is starting to see progress. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The executive board <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsfa.com\/2025\/07\/19\/montgomery-museum-fine-arts-appoints-temporary-director\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wsfa.com\/2025\/07\/19\/montgomery-museum-fine-arts-appoints-temporary-director\/\">named Alice Novak as temporary director<\/a> in July, and now, the museum\u2019s association and city boards met together for the first time in months. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cGoing back and forth with the city council, we got off our regularly scheduled meetings,\u201d explained joint board President Bill Ford. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe\u2019re calling it the renaissance, this idea of hey, we\u2019ve gotten over a hump,\u201d said Montgomery\u2019s Cultural Affairs Director Jennifer Dobbs. \u201cWe feel renewed, refreshed, everyone\u2019s ready to move forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Recent disputes with city hall put the museum\u2019s accreditation into question, but those concerns have been put to rest. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThe American Alliance of Museums is our accrediting body, and we sent them right away the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsfa.com\/2025\/06\/04\/resolution-reached-between-city-montgomery-fine-arts-museum-board\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wsfa.com\/2025\/06\/04\/resolution-reached-between-city-montgomery-fine-arts-museum-board\/\">ordinance that was passed<\/a> at city council, and also the new agreement between the joint boards that very closely follow the way we have been structured historically, and our accreditation was approved -or continued- without question,\u201d Novak explained. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The museum is also continuing to make progress on proposed facility upgrades that would better preserve the art inside. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe\u2019ve got some very fantastic pieces of art, and we want to protect them,\u201d Ford said. \u201cIf that air handling goes down, the storage facility where we actually keep the art would be unsuitable for keeping those pieces together, so we\u2019re talking about sealing off one of the galleries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Not reading this story on the WSFA News App?
