EUREKA, Utah (KUTV) \u2014 Saturday night evacuations in the town of Eureka were underway as the Iron Fire grew to more than 13,000 acres.<\/p>\n
An evacuation center was established at 11201 W. 8400 South in Elberta for residents displaced by the evacuations.<\/p>\n
Officials said a second reception site was being coordinated and urged residents to monitor official sources for updates.<\/p>\n
Earlier Saturday, evacuations were underway only for ranches north of Eureka as the Iron Fire burned about 2 miles from the town, prompting structure protection resources from Utah County to respond.<\/p>\n
Shifting winds also grounded helicopters, officials said.<\/p>\n
Homansville Road to Highway 6 was closed as the Iron Fire remained active in the area, according to Juab County Emergency Management.<\/p>\n
Emergency officials said the town of Eureka was placed in READY status, meaning a wildfire was active nearby and conditions could change quickly.<\/p>\n
Residents were urged to prepare in case an evacuation became necessary by gathering medications, important documents and emergency go-kits. <\/p>\n

Officials also advised residents to prepare family members, pets and vehicles to leave quickly if needed.<\/p>\n
People were encouraged to monitor their phones, local television stations and radio broadcasts for updates.<\/p>\n
Officials said anyone who feels unsafe may leave at any time.<\/p>\n
The fire had grown to more than 13,323 acres, according to officials. Shifting winds began pushing the fire toward Eureka.<\/p>\n
